Super Excited ~ Early look at the newly released Alpha Version of Octane 3.0 and the much anticipated Volumetric Fog ~ I am Demonstrating it using the City Environment from my Children’s animated TV series, The Adventures of Nkoza and Nankya ~ http://www.nkozaandnankya.com
Volumetric rendering: OctaneRender 3 supports the ability to render particulate matter such as clouds, smoke, fog, and fire with varying densities and introduces a unique native primitive type for incredibly detailed micro-surface displacement volumes and surfaces required to render photorealistic natural and organic materials. Dreamworks’ OpenVDB is also supported for direct in-camera rendering of particle simulations.
Spent some time drawing this concept of an African super hero ~ a comic hero of sorts. I dream of day we will have even more super heroes coming out of Africa.
July 4th Render ~ Crime scene reconstruction ~ 3D modeling, Texturing and Rendering ~ created with Autodesk 3ds Max using reference photos, rendered with Octane ~ I was imagining an idea of evidence recovered from a river, effects of rust, and water exposure ~ the challenge of recovering finger prints.
Inspiration is all Around Us, look just a little harder ~ Sketch inspired by a Banana ~ Every morning at Breakfast before homeschooling starts and before we work on the Nkoza and Nankya TV Series, I ask my 2 kids what they are grateful for ~ today we all agreed that we are grateful for all the inspiration that is around us ~ while we were chatting, I noticed my daughter picking up a banana to eat, I quickly grabbed my camera, and took a shot of the end where she had just broken off a banana ~ I picked up my sketch pad and quickly sketched this character to show them how something as simple as a banana, can spark an idea of an old character.. in my head I was seeing an old and aging Wakayima… lol!!! This character inspired me to create a Digital Version. Check it out at this link: https://www.sowl.com/2016/04/character-design-wakayima-concept/
A quick Tutorial showing how you can speed up your renders in Maya using the Octane Render Engine ~ I am using Octane to render the scenes for my animated TV series, The Adventures of Nkoza & Nankya, and getting an average of 25 seconds to 30 Seconds on some of my key character shots like the one I am using as a case Study.
This is my first creation with Krita, I downloaded it and jumped in without even reading the manual or watching a tutorial. It definitely has plenty of powerful features, a wealth of brushes, and the interface is easy to work with ~ I highly recommend it, and I am adding it to my drawing and painting arsenal ~ check it out at: https://krita.org/
Krita is a FREE digital painting and illustration application.
Krita offers CMYK support, HDR painting, perspective grids, dockers, filters, painting assistants, and many other features you would expect. Check out the gallery to see what other artists have done with Krita
Here is a video of a Concept character I drew during one of my animation breaks. I used Sketchbook Pro for the drawing. This is the technique I use to create my comic book characters. Enjoy 🙂
Below is the completed Character with some editing in Photoshop.
