My Art Journey in the Diaspora ~ I have been waiting with great anticipation for Quill and the Oculus ~ all I can say is that the way I do art will never ever be the same again, VR has changed that forever ~ imagine an unlimited canvas in all directions, coupled with the sound a pencil or a brush makes when you are drawing or painting ~ now I know what my lunch breaks are going to be like ~ my first creation today was a wire car, just like the ones we used to make in Uganda ~ but this time done in VR… I am going to be recording videos from my creation sessions ~ you have to see it to believe 🙂 ~ thank you Oculus people… like we say in Uganda, “Nze I fear you” heheheheÂ
A 3D Realism study I did during my lunch break at work ~ I did the Texturing, Lighting and Rendering using Autodesk 3ds Max 2017 and Octane 3.0 Render Engine ~ CREDIT: Scanned Fruit and Bowl model by Ten24
Check out this new Tutorial I uploaded showing how to send the Data you have captured using the Perception Neuron Motion Capture suit in Axis Neuron, to 3DS Max and applying it to the Biped Rig system ~ For more tutorials visit and subscribe to my youtube channel at: https://www.youtube.com/user/SolomonJagwe
I highly recommend the Perception Neuron Suit, you can learn more about it at this link: https://neuronmocap.com/
My Art journey in the Diaspora – Believe it or not, I am actually working  – as a kid growing up in Mutundwe, Uganda, my late paternal grandma used to find me staring up at the sky, awestruck by the long white trails left behind by distant planes .. and she would jokingly tell me to get my head out of the clouds… I doubt she had any idea where technology was headed… I wish she were here so I could show her this amazing VR tech and say… “Jjajja, labaayo eno tekinolojje…
Quick review of the Unity Adam Demo Character Pack ~ The Free Pack contains re-rigged versions of the characters Adam, Guard and Lu from the amazing Unity Adam Demo.
The Adam demo is a real-time-rendered short film created with the Unity engine by our demo team.
My Tuesday at work, Art Journey in the Diaspora ~ From Concept drawing this parrot character to modeling it in 3D, and then on to animation for VR ~ I am enjoying modeling using the Cintiq, I can only dream of what it will feel like on the upcoming Microsoft Surface Studio ~ for now, this is a whole new experience, because I am used to using a wacom tablet ~ being able to sculpt right on the screen is so liberating ~ I feel like hugging this device
A geek out moment ~ This has got to be the most Beautiful PC that has ever been built by Microsoft? ~ so Elegant and still packing a punch in terms of processing Power ~ from the videos I have watched of the launch, the drawing and art options are to die for ~ I can’t wait to try out the drawing surface, as well as its Virtual Reality capabilities, since it comes with a VR ready Graphics, an Nvidia Geforce 980 card ~ #changingtimes #pcpower #artresources ~
Surface Studio, with its strikingly large and incredibly thin 28” PixelSense™ Display, lets you visualize ideas as you paint, edit, and design. Then watch those ideas leap off the screen with 13.5 million pixels of true-to-life color and clarity.
Surface Studio is designed for the creative process. The 28” PixelSense™ Display gives you a huge canvas for all kinds of work. Use it upright, or draw on it like a drafting table.
Art journey in the Diaspora ~ This morning I took the Perception Neuron Motion capture suit for a test drive at work ~ soooo impressed by the results. A warning to all those planning on getting one, make sure you purchase a Battery pack because it doesn’t come with one, and be prepared to pay some customs dues because it ships from Hong Kong. I am still doing more tests and ironing out some calibration issues ~ the Anti-Magnetic case is also a must have ~ I recorded the un-boxing video, so I will share that on my youtube channel ~ more to come
Super Excited ~ Early look at the newly released Alpha Version of Octane 3.0 and the much anticipated Volumetric Fog ~ I am Demonstrating it using the City Environment from my Children’s animated TV series, The Adventures of Nkoza and Nankya ~ http://www.nkozaandnankya.com
Volumetric rendering: OctaneRender 3 supports the ability to render particulate matter such as clouds, smoke, fog, and fire with varying densities and introduces a unique native primitive type for incredibly detailed micro-surface displacement volumes and surfaces required to render photorealistic natural and organic materials. Dreamworks’ OpenVDB is also supported for direct in-camera rendering of particle simulations.
Jazz Painting Completed ~ Ushering in thanks giving with Thanks Giving ~ I am grateful to Peter Kigonya for the opportunity to create some beautiful art for his awesome living space. I delivered this 4 feet by 16 feet (4) Panel Jazz painting in time for thanksgiving. I thank God for his Blessing and for the gift of art ~ I definitely do not take it for granted.
Peter in his own words:
“The mood the art work sets to the house is priceless… worth every penny… definitely added to our thanksgiving. I also noticed some subtle attentions to detail that only a few fellow artists can appreciate… sources of light, shadow sources etc… And with a room full of people the pieces take on a new life – like the walls are actually playing music and entertaining the guests. Good job man.”
